Food for Thought for the week of June 6, 2021

(Readings and questions for the further study of the Book of Ephesians)

As we continue in our “27” series, one idea is to get a notebook for your Food for Thought notes so you can have your entire New Testament study in one place.

**Ephesians 1-3: What God did for us **

Monday – Read Chapter 1 and make a list of what Paul prays for the Ephesians in the last part of the chapter. Which part of that prayer would you most like to be true of your life?

Tuesday – Read Chapter 2 and contrast the spiritual condition we were in before we became Christians with what we now have in Christ. Read Chapter 3. What stands out to you most about Paul’s prayer in this chapter?

How many times does Paul use the term “in Him” in Chapters 1-3? Why do you think Paul uses it so often?

Ephesians 4-6: How we should live in light of what God has done

Wednesday – Read Chapter 4 and compare the way the Gentiles lived with the way Paul is calling the Christians to live. Which of the actions described in this chapter do you need to give attention to the most?

Thursday – Read Chapter 5. How does Paul describe what it means to “live as children of light?” What caught your attention about Paul’s teaching on marriage?

Friday – Read Chapter 6. In light of your current job situation, what guidelines do you find in Chapter 6 that you need to give attention to? How is it going for you in fighting the spiritual battle?
