In God We Trust -Pt.4

By Pastor Mike Hernandez, October 27, 2024

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:1-5

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

HOW DO WE FAITHFULLY LIVE FOR JESUS IN A POST-CHRISTIAN CULTURE? WE ARE CALLED TO LIVE AND LOVE WITH AND .

Pleres - Fill to the brim, abounding in, thoroughly full.

  • GRACE
  • TRUTH

These two extremes cause two different problems: What happens when we live with truth but don't show grace? TRUTH WITHOUT GRACE LEADS TO .

What about GRACE WITHOUT TRUTH? GRACE WITHOUT TRUTH LEADS TOAND

What is GRACE? Charis—the undeserved kindness, favor, and goodwill of God. GIFT Completely undeserved!

8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—9 not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Romans 6:1

Lifegroup Discussion

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.

  • What is a truth that’s helped you this week?
  • Where did you grow up? How would you describe the culture of your hometown?

Start thinking. Ask a question to get your group thinking.

  • Why do you think grace is something we sometimes struggle to give others?
  • How do you go about deciding what you believe is truth? How did you come to think this way?

Start sharing. Choose a question to create openness.

  • Do you tend to extend more grace or more truth to others? How about to yourself?
  • Have you ever changed your mind about what you believed was truth? How did others respond to you?
  • Who are some of the people you’d like to get better at extending grace to? How could that play out?

Start praying. Be bold and pray with power.

Father, thank You for Jesus. Thank you for sending Him as the way, the truth, and the life. We’re asking you to show us what it means to believe Your truth and live out Your grace. We trust you to lead us by the Holy Spirit. Show us who we can extend more of your grace to this week. Amen!

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.

Reach out with grace to at least one person in your life who may feel judged, excluded, or hurt by your belief. Ask them how you can get better at showing them love.
