Identity in the Sacrifice

1 Peter 3:18-22

(1 Peter 3:18-22)

We never stop growing in our understanding and appreciation of Jesus’ love and grace.

  1. THE VALUE OF HIS SACRIFICE (1 Peter 3:18)
    1. Jesus made an incredible sacrifice for our sins.
    2. Jesus willingly suffered for our sins.
    3. Jesus sacrificial suffering through death offers forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and eternal life.
  2. THE VICTORY OF HIS SACRIFICE (1 Peter 3:18-21)
    1. Jesus notifies the imprisoned angels He has won (1 Peter 3:19-20) (2 Peter 2:4) (Jude 6)
    2. God saved Noah with the same judgement of the unrighteous (1 Peter 3:18b-19)
    3. Baptism is the symbol of salvation (1 Peter 3:20-21)
    4. Embrace the power of Christ symbolized by your baptism as a declaration of war against Satan and your identity with Christ and His victory over sin and death. Allow the Holy Spirit to transform you into the character of Christ. (Romans 12:1-2)
  3. THE HOPE OF HIS SACRIFICE (1 Peter 3:22)
  1. Jesus has ultimate triumph over all authorities and powers (Matthew 27:64) (Daniel 7:13-14)
  2. Jesus is exalted to the right hand of God (Hebrews 1:3)
  3. The truth of Jesus resurrection gives us hope, assurance, and confidence of our resurrection in the face of suffering.

  1. Anchor your hope in Jesus’ triumph and sovereign reign.
  2. Trust God’s guidance, strength, and presence as you navigate through life.
  3. Remember your ultimate victory is found in Jesus and nothing can separate you from His love. Romans 8:38-39
