Alone is Not Alone

2 Peter 2:4-10

2 Peter 2:4-10

When you think you are alone, God is there to rescue.

  1. The Sin of Man and Angels does not escape God’s Judgment (2 Peter 2:4-8)

    1. Angels vs. 4
      1. Which angels?
        1. Satan?
        2. Genesis 6:2, Jude 6
        3. The Angels that sinned with women on Earth creating the Nephalim
    2. Noah vs. 5
      1. The world before the flood was full of sin Genesis 6:11
      2. Noah was the only righteous man on Earth Genesis 6:9
      3. God saved Noah and his family but destroyed all others Genesis 8:1ff
    3. Lot vs. 6 - 8
      1. Sodom and Gomorrah turned to ashes as an example (Genesis 19:23-25)
      2. Rescued Lot and his family (Genesis 19: 15-17)
      3. Living in the cities grieved Lot
    4. The final judgment will be overwhelming
      1. Keeps - To guard, keep an eye upon, prevent from escaping (1) Unrighteous - wicked (2) Under punishment - Krisis (greek) condemnation, damnation, judgment (3) ESPECIALLY (a) Indulge in lust of passion (b) Despise authority
  2. God rescues the Righteous (even in their imperfection) (2 Peter 2:5-8; 9-10)

    1. God rescued Noah and Lot
      1. They were alone, which makes it a trial
      2. The conduct of the world toward them makes it a trial
      3. The Christian should always stand out, which makes it a trial
    2. God can rescue you
      1. Rescues - to flow away

        1. The godly - Pious (the sealed) (Revelation 7:3; 9:4)
        2. From trials - to prove His purpose and power
