The Gospel changes how we think about money and possessions.

  1. GIVING IS AN ACT OF GRACE (2 Corinthians 8:1- 4)

    1. It does not depend on your situation
    2. It does not depend on your wealth
    3. It does depend on your desire
  2. GIVING IS MOTIVATED BY GRACE (2 Chorinthians 8:5-7)

    1. More than expected
    2. Order of Priorities open us to grace
      1. First (in importance, not time) to the Lord
      2. Then by the will of God, to Paul
    3. Titus is the means to complete the act of grace that was started
    4. Paul encourages their positives, and to add this act of grace to the list
  3. GIVINGS BEST EXAMPLE IS GIVEN BY JESUS (2 Corinthians 8:8-9)

  1. Paul lets them know it is not a command, but proof of their love is genuine
  2. Jesus showed the grace of God by bankrupting Himself to make us rich.
  1. GIVING IS HOW GOD PROVIDES YOUR ABUNDANCE (2 Corinthians 8:10-15)
    1. Paul wants them to finish what they started
    2. Paul encourages them to give as they are able
    3. Paul ties our abundance to our giving
    4. We have abundance to help those in need.
    5. Our mission is to help those in need, We must help them spiritually first, then help them in other areas

Conclusion:

  1. How generous are you?
  2. Do you give with joy?
  3. Are you willing to sacrifice for those in need?
