Calvary exists to glorify God by planting and re-vitalizing churches in all the World.

  1. GOD'S GRACIOUS GIFT

    1. God’s gift to us, Himself
    2. God’s presence will lead us to give of ourselves (in all areas)
    3. Reasons a person does not give
      1. No instruction
      2. May not trust the leadership
      3. May not acknowledge God owns all of you (1 Corinthians 6:19)
    4. God’s grace is given to us for the church
  2. God’s gracious gift is to help others in the gospel (2 Corinthians 8:16-24)

    1. Paul names a fellowship of men that help
    2. These four men, working together, are examples of love and transparency
      1. Paul - initiator of the offering to help the Jerusalem church. He personally contributed to it, organized the offering, then got out of the way for it to be delivered.
      2. Titus (2 Corinthians 8:16-17) Loved the people. Called Paul’s partner in 2 Corinthians 8:16-17. He was a second chair leader who encouraged the recovery of the Church at Corinth.
      3. The Gospel Compass (2 Corinthians 8:18-19) Said he was “well know” and “famous”. Known primarily by the Gospel. Probably a part of the Corinth Church
      4. The Reconciler - another unknown name again known by the Church at Corinth. He had persevered under personal trials. He is a highlight of grace. He had shown love to the church Ann had stayed steady “on mission”. Built and restored relationships.
    3. Paul explains the why of the how (2 Corinthians 8: 20-21)
      1. There can be no blame cast
      2. Their aim is honorable
        1. In the sight of God
        2. In the sight of man
  3. GOD'S GRACIOUS GIFT IS FOR US TO LOVE GOD AND LOVE THE CHURCH (2 Corinthinans 8:23-24)

  1. The Church is the glory of Christ, and should stay on His mission.
  2. he brothers are the messengers
  3. Paul wants the Corinthians to show their love and prove his boasting to the whole church Conclusion:
    1. The way to tell is a person’s passion through giving is godly, is if they stay on the Gospel mission
    2. Which man in this text are you like. Titus who loved people?, a “gospel compass”?, a reconciler of relationships?, passionate for the Gospel despite personal setbacks?
    3. Do you want Calvary to care for other churches without getting into their business?
    4. For what do you live? Do you care that the Gospel only reach the United States? You are a citizen of Heaven, not here and God so loves the World.
