God's Power in Our Deficit

(2 Corinthians 9:6-15)

Giving is not about just the money.

1. THE POINT (2 Corinthians 9:6-9)

   1. Common Sense
      1. Sow little seed, reap little harvest
      2. Sow much seek, reap bountiful harvest
   2. Give Generously and willingly
   3. Give willingly
      1. Must “Choose for oneself before another thing” What is most important to you
      2. Not reluctantly (sadness, grief, grudgingly
      3. Because you have to (constraint, distress
      4. God LOVES (agape) cheerful (Merry or hilarious).
   4. The result is grace (God’s power)
      1. Abound
      2. Have ALL sufficiency
      3. In ALL things
      4. At ALL times
      5. You abound in EVERY good work

2. The extent of God’s supply to you (2 Corinthians 9:10-11)

   1. God is the source
      1. Example of sower and baker
      2. Harvest increases
   2. Enriched in EVERY way (not the end)
      1. In order to be generous
      2. In order to produce thanksgiving

3. Multiple harvests from the single supply

1. Supplies the immediate need
2. Results in thanksgiving and worship
   1. Approval of service
   2. Results in increased prayer life

4. Cornerstone
   1. Worship of God
   2. Increased Prayer
   3. Because of His inexpressible gift.

Conclusion:

1. Decide to give generously voluntarily. Decide to live generously.
2. Do not hoard God’s extra supply to you.
3. How is your worship doing? Increase worship and prayer in your life.
