Grateful for the Scripture

2 Timothy 3:16-17

The Bible is reliable.

1. THE BIBLE IS INSPIRED 2 Timothy 3:16-17

   1. Scripture is “breathed out by God”
   2. God intends all scripture to be profitable
      1. Teaching
      2. Reproof
      3. Correction
      4. Training in righteousness
   3. God’s outcome is an equipped person
      1. Salvation is the first outcome (15)
      2. Power to save (able)
      3. Faith in Christ (the point of all scripture)
   4. Scripture makes complete sense
   5. Scripture equips us
   6. Scripture covers “every good work”

2. THE BIBLE IS INERRANT (2 Peter 1:19-21)

   1. More sure than experience and eye witnesses
   2. Illuminates all darkness
   3. No from a mans interpretation
   4. No telling of the truth was from the will of man
   5. The writers were carried along by the Holy Spirit

3. THE BIBLE DEMANDS A RESPONSE

1. Since we have an inherent, infallible guide
2. Since we have been given the knowledge of God
3. Since we have been given the right knowledge of our world and ourselves
4. Since we have equipped for every good work

Conclusion:

1. The Bible is far greater.
2. The Bible comes from God himself.
3. The Bible leads us to the greatest gift of Jesus Christ.
4. Share these truths with everyone.
