The Mission of the Church never changes

  1. THE PRE-REQUISITE FOR THE MISSION

    1. All Authority
    2. Where that Authority is effective
    3. Who has that authority

  2. The Main Verb

    1. Make Disciples
    2. Why do we make disciples?
      1. Jesus commands it
      2. Jesus transfers His authority to our mission (therefore)
    3. Who makes disciples?
      1. The Church/which is the people
    4. Where do we make them?
      1. All the Nations
    5. How do we make disciples?
      1. Go
      2. Baptize them into the Church
      3. Teach them how to obey all Jesus’ commands a) Koinonia (Contrast young and old -natural to the young because they have not had a lifetime. Harder for the Old because of the continuity of friends over time) b) Edification Which is Discipleship)

  3. The Confidence to make disciples

  1. Jesus is with us
  2. Jesus commands us
  3. Jesus said He will build His church (Matthew 18:16-19 16 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. 18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

        2. Having times of training
        3. Helping in structure
      2. Help our members/attenders
        1. Ministry
        2. Care for one another
        3. Enroll members in Sunday School
    2. Create a path for Discipleship from birth to death (Spiritually and Physically) Hebrews when you should have been teachers (Miss Dickey)
      1. A starter path for the new or un-discipled believer
        1. Discipleship classes on Sunday evenings
        2. Bible studies in homes or at church
    1. An advanced path for the hungry believer (Leadership Development) a) Special times for the motivated learner b) If you want more, we have the resources to help, let us know. c) We have two SBC seminaries with programs for degree or for just to learn available here. d) This is not just for information, this is for personal development and practical use. Psalm 27:4
    2. Teach from the Pulpit a) Special series in January and February on the Church b) Book study in Romans to teach doctrine and Practice
    3. Merge Fellowship and Hospitality (Koinonia) a) Implement the “one another’s” of the Bible b) That means welcoming the guest c) Let them experience the Love of Christ in you
    4. Why should you? a) You are planting trees not squash b) We are building toward the future based on the past. (Older and Younger) c) New is Old, Old is New. We are looking at a continuation of the truth. Truth was not invented in the 1950’s. It is much older than that) d) Are you looking to the past? Are you dreaming of the future? The norm is dreary, but it is the norm that is effective. Do the thing!

  1. Desire deeper discipleship.
  2. Never stop growing.
