(Romans 5:12-21) (1 Corinthians 15:45)

If you are born once, you die twice. If you are born twice, you die once

  1. THE FIRST ADAM BROUGHT SIN (Romans 5:12-14)

    1. A grammatical arrangement for maximum punch
    2. A clarifying statement about the passing of sin
    3. APPLICATION: We must recognize the depth of our need. The problem is not just our actions - - it’s our nature apart from God. Sin is not optional, it is in our DNA
  2. THE LAST ADAM BROUGHT A FREE GIFT (Romans 5:15-17)

    1. The Free Gift is not like the trespass
    2. APPLICATION: Stop living under the weight of sins’ curse. In Christ, we are not just forgiven — we are empowered to reign in righteousness. Grace is not just pardon, it is power.
  3. THE RESULTS OF THE TWO ADAMS (Romans 5:18-21)

  1. One sin led to the condemnation of all men, one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men.
  2. One man’s disobedience made all men sinners (we also sin), one mans obedience many are made righteous
  3. The more law, the more sin, when sin increased, grace abounded more
  4. Sin reigns in death, grace reigns through righteousness, leading to our eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord
  5. APPLICATION: Do not let your past sin or present struggle define you. Grace reigns now. WE live not under the reign of death, but under the reign of grace that leads to eternal life in Jesus.
