Groaning Toward Glory

Romans 8:18-30

Romans 8:18-30

God’s eternal purpose is to make us like Christ.

  1. SUFFERING IN THE PRESENT, GLORY IN THE FUTURE Suffering in the present, glory in the future (Romans 8:18)

    1. An unbalanced comparison
  2. Creation groans for freedom (Romans 8:19-25)

    1. Greek words:
    2. Nature was cursed when man fell (Romans 8:19-22)
    3. Nature is enslaved by man’s fall.It longs for God’s restoration, God’s purpose is to redeem and remake all of creation.
  3. We groan for redemption (Romans 8:23-25)

  1. We have the first fruits of the Spirit
  2. We await the adoption as sons, which is the redemption of our bodies
  3. In this hope we are saved
  4. Greek words:
  5. Our adoption is not to only take us to Heaven, but to prepare us to reign with Him
  1. The Holy Spirit groans for us (Romans 8:26-27)

    1. God knows how we should pray
    2. God knows how to speak God language
    3. God knows what’s in our heart (He searches our hearts)
    4. God knows what’s in the what is in the mind of the Spirit (trinity)
    5. BECAUSE The Holy Spirit intercede’s for the saints,ACCORDING TO. THE WILL OF GOD.

    7. God, the Holy Spirit align’s our prayers with the will of God. You are not alone, The Holy Spirit carries our prayers directly to the throne of God.
  2. God’s purpose guaranteed (Romans 8:28-30)

    1. “For those that love God” not a subset of believers, but all “that love God”
    2. All things work together for good (not health and wealth)(everything in this life including suffering)
    3. Called to His purpose (to accomplish His purpose for His grand plan to conform us to the image of His Son AND to preserve us until he glorifies us.
