Now look at vs. 9. How can the recipients of this letter be both rich and poor? In what ways are those who trust Jesus rich? How do you personally feel spiritually rich? Jesus wants to make sure the Smyrnan Christians realize that it is the devil behind their persecution (see vss. 9-10). Why was this important? Doug said that, as believers, we are always a mixture of faithless and faithful. No one is 100% faithful, except Jesus. Does that encourage you, or discourage you? Why?
