  1. Do you think it is easier to be a faithful Christian if you are rich or poor? Why?
  1. Read Revelation 2:8-11 and review the outline. What stood out for you from the message?
  1. Notice how Jesus describes Himself in vs. 8. Why would this have been important for the Smyrnan believers?
  1. Now look at vs. 9. How can the recipients of this letter be both rich and poor? In what ways are those who trust Jesus rich? How do you personally feel spiritually rich?
  1. Jesus wants to make sure the Smyrnan Christians realize that it is the devil behind their persecution (see vss. 9-10). Why was this important?
  1. Doug said that, as believers, we are always a mixture of faithless and faithful. No one is 100% faithful, except Jesus. Does that encourage you, or discourage you? Why?
  1. Which truth from the outline do you need to focus on right now? Which promise from the outline? Why?
  1. List some ways you’d like your group to be praying for you.
