  1. People tend to err on the side of either feeling too overconfident or too unworthy. If 10 is overconfident and 0 is unworthy, where on the scale are you most of the time?
  1. Read John 8:2-11 and review the outline. What stands out to you the most about this story? Why do you think this episode is so powerful?
  1. Why do you think the Pharisees brought this woman to Jesus? What was their real motive?
  1. No one knows for sure, but what do you think Jesus was writing on the ground?
  1. Jesus said, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” What does this reveal about all humanity? Does this mean all sins are equally bad?
  1. How does grace silence shame? How has Jesus done this in your life?
  1. Why is it important that people don’t just hear “Go and sin no more” but also “Neither do I condemn you” first? How does this order change the way we approach our faith and others?
