Job 1:1-5 HERE’S SOME INSIDE INFORMATION: Suffering is always Job 1:6-10 God can use it to Job 1:11 Suffering is always Job 1:12 And God is Job 1:22-2:10 Questions for Further Reflection & Discussion What was your impression of the Book of Job before this message? Is it changing after getting into it? Read Job 1:1-2:10 and review the outline. What connects for you from your reading and the message? What stands out to you about Job’s character in the opening verses (1:1-5)? How might his spiritual habits have helped prepare him for what was coming? How does the “heavenly scene” in Job 1:6-12 shape the way you view suffering in your own life? Does it challenge you or comfort you? What does it mean to say, “suffering is bigger than me”? How does that perspective shift how we look at suffering in others? Ourselves? Job loses nearly everything, and yet he still worships (1:20-22). What do you think enabled him to respond that way? Can you think of a time when God used a hard season to refine something in you — your faith, your character, your trust? What changed as a result? When suffering hits, what’s your first reaction? Do you tend to turn toward God or away from Him? If “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Prov. 9:10), how might that kind of holy reverence reshape the way we walk through suffering? What does it look like to suffer wisely? Extra credit: For a deeper dive into this message, listen to the podcast, Unhurried with Doug Kyle on YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts.
