What are some ways you feel pulled away from God in today’s world? Read Deuteronomy 7:1-9 and review the sermon outline. What stood out or connected with you most from the reading and message? Verses 1-5 represent a unique time in Israel’s history specific to them. Nonetheless, thinking about John 17:14-16, what does it mean it for believers today to be IN the world but not OF it? How does remembering that you are God’s treasure (v.6) help you resist the pull to blend in? What does that identity shift change in your thinking or behavior? Why is it important that God reminds Israel that He didn’t choose them because they were numerous or impressive (v.7)? What does spiritual pride look like in our day? How can it sneak into our attitudes or conversations? What does it mean to truly belong to God in a world that often pressures us to belong elsewhere?
