Read 1 Thessalonians chapter 1 and review the sermon outline. Where could you use a recharge on hope in your life? In 1 Thessalonians 1:10, Paul talks about “waiting for God’s Son from heaven.” How does that hope contrast with the world’s constant flood of negative news and fear? Think about how God called you to Himself in the past. In vs. 5, Paul says the gospel came “with power and with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction.” How did you first experience that transforming power in your own life? How can remembering the events surrounding God’s past rescue in a person’s life, help ground them when life feels overwhelming or uncertain? Thinking of Jesus' future rescue (His return), what advice would you give believers about how to keep their focus on Christ’s return in a culture obsessed with the here and now?
