When you hear the words sin, righteousness, and judgment, how would you say our culture generally defines each one? Jesus says the Holy Spirit will “prove the world to be in the wrong” about sin, righteousness, and judgment. Why do you think these three things are areas where our culture and Jesus’ teaching can be so different? Jesus defines the fundamental problem of sin as not believing in Him. How is that different from simply thinking of sin as “breaking the rules” or “doing bad things”? Why would Jesus connect righteousness with His going to the Father? What does the Ascension say about Jesus’ identity, authority, and righteousness? Jesus says the “prince of this world” stands condemned. What does that tell us about the ultimate outcome of the spiritual battle even when in the world around us it sometimes looks like evil is winning? Jesus says, “It is for your good that I am going away.” After studying these verses, how would you explain why Jesus’ Ascension really is good news for us?
