Read Habakkuk 1:1-11 and review the sermon outline. What reflections do you have about it? Habakkuk begins by asking, “How long, LORD, must I call for help, but you do not listen?” Have you ever experienced a season when you felt like God wasn’t listening? What made it feel that way? Habakkuk doesn’t hide his frustration from God. How comfortable are you being that honest with God? For many, it is easier to default to fake faith rather than honest prayer. Why? Sometimes we approach prayer like placing an order on a menu. We tell God what we want and expect him to deliver it. How is prayer different when we recognize that God is the one who gets to determine the “course”? What do you do when God seems silent or when his answer doesn’t make sense? What are some healthy responses? What are some unhealthy ones? Where might God be inviting you right now to trust him without having all the answers?
