How does remembering it affect you today? When life feels uncertain, what tends to steady you most — remembering something God has done, seeing God’s power, asking God to intervene, or simply trusting him? Why? Review the passage and the outline. What do you notice about the way Habakkuk begins his prayer? What has changed in him since chapter 1? Why do you think remembering God’s past faithfulness can be so powerful when we don’t know what he is going to do next? Can you think of a time when remembering helped you? Look at vss. 3-15. What is the main thrust of everything Habakkuk writes? What’s the difference between asking God to act and demanding that God explain himself? Why is that distinction important? Have you ever looked back on something difficult and later been able to see God’s faithfulness in it — even though you couldn't see it at the time? What did that experience teach you?
