Forgive Others the Way Christ Forgave You 13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:13 (NIV) Important Truths About Forgiveness: o Forgiveness is not approval of sin. o Forgiveness is not forgetting. o Forgiveness is not immediate trust or reconciliation. o Forgiveness is releasing the debt to God. 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. Romans 12:17-19 (NIV) “God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins.” Colossians 2:13b (NIV) • your sin is removed • your debt is canceled • your past is covered Is there someone I need to forgive? → Forgiven people forgive people. 3. Surrender To Jesus and Let Him Reshape Your Relationships 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3:14 (NIV) 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
