Walking in Authority

"Trusting the Word"

By Lead Servant Pastor Phreddie Minnifield, April 04, 2020

Luke 10:19 (NKJV) Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Authority is defined: The power or right to give orders, make decisions, and enforce obedience.

  1. You have been given power, jurisdiction, command and control over the enemy and his attacks

  2. You have God-given Ability, Delegated Dominance, to rule over the enemy

The Purpose of our Authority is found in:

Luke 9:1-2 (NKJV) Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.”

  1. The purpose of your Authority is to empower you, to operate in the name of Jesus Christ. (the anointed one and His anointing)

  2. The purpose of your Authority is to enable you to do the works of Jesus and then some.

John 14:12(NKJV)

This Authority belongs to the Believer

  1. If you’re a believer, God requires you to use your delegated authority.

    a. When we agree with God’s Ability GREAT POWER is made available through us by HIM!

    b. The value of your authority rests on the power of His ability

How does your Authority work?

  1. God’s Word reveals that we are not wrestling against flesh and blood, but demonic powers

Ephesians 6:10-12 (NKJV).

a. If we all adopt the biblical mindset, it would make a huge difference in the way we respond.

Matthew 16:23 (NKJV) But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are [a]an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”

  1. There’s a real enemy out there who’s after your heart and mind.

    a. In this spiritual battle, your actions are crucial.

Romans 6:16 (NKJV) Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?

  1. We can’t accomplish God’s purpose in the flesh (James 1:20)

    a. Don’t give in to envy and strife, don’t be a vessel or a target for the devil.

James 3:16 (NKJV) For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.

Application: How do we walk in our Authority?

  1. UNDERSTAND the power that backs you

  2. BE STRONG in THE LORD

    a. Paul told believers to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might (Eph. 6:10)

  3. STAY UNDER AUTHORITY Matthew 8:8-10(NKJV)

    a. One of the essential elements of great faith is humility.

    b. People of great faith in God; don’t have that much faith in themselves.

    c. Jesus operated under authority John 12:49 (NKJV)

  4. DEPEND ON HIS ABILITY

Ephesians 6:10 finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.”

a. God is not saying be strong in your own might, in your own self, “be strong in the Lord” be strong in the one who is backing you!

b. Depend on the greater one, on the inside of you

1 John 4:17 (NKJV)Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.
