Ephesians Chapter 4 - Part 2

A Healthy Body

By Senior Pastor Phreddie Minnifield, May 22, 2022

Ephesians 4:11  “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,...”

  • These gifts that Christ gave to the church are supposed to function more like a coach.
    • These gifts are supposed to train the members of the body, and then the members get the job done.
    • The gift that you’ve been given is for the rest of the Body of Christ

Ephesians 4:12 “...for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the [a]edifying of the body of Christ,...”

  • These ministry gifts are to equip the saints, and then the saints are to do the work of the ministry.

AMP- “His intention was the perfecting and the full equipping of the saints (His consecrated people), [that they should do] the work of ministering toward building up Christ’s body (the church)

Ephesians 4:13  “...till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;”

  • It’s amazing that Paul proclaimed that Christians should come to the full stature of Christ.
    • That was the design of the Lord when He gave gifts to man

Ephesians 4:14 “...that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,”

  • The gifts were given so we no longer have to be immature, tossed to and fro by every teaching, caught up by the sleight and cunning craftiness of others
    • One of the things that must take place to move from childhood into son-ship is spiritual discernment.
    • This comes from being grounded in the Word of God.

Ephesians 4:15  “but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—”

  • Speaking the truth in love is the key
    • Truth without love is heartless,
    • Love without truth is powerless.

Ephesians 4:16 “from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.”

  • Lack of cooperation or supply from any part of a physical body makes what we call a handicap.
