Thyatira: The Church Not Willing to Take a Stand

Revelation 2:18-29

Proposition: The church at Thyatira was commended for a strong and growing faith but she refused to stand against sin inside the church. The healthy church must always realize life is lived in community. What affects one, affects all.

Key Words and Terms

erga: “deeds” Revelation 2:19. This Greek word is usually translated as “work” or “deeds.” However, in this instance the word refers in a general sense to one’s behavior or lifestyle. apheis: “tolerate,” Revelation 2:20. This Greek word literally means “to leave alone.” In this context it means to put up with or allow something which is harmful.
