How to Pray (pt. 2)

Matthew 6:9-13 (NASB) “Our Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”

The Lord’s Prayer Structure:

God’s Glory: 1. God’s name (Matthew 6:9) 2. God’s kingdom (10) 3. God’s will (10)

Our Good: 4. Our daily bread (Matthew 6:11) 5. Our forgiveness (12) 6. Our protection (13)

  1. Give us this day our daily bread. (Matthew 6:11)

• Matthew 6:34,“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

  1. “And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.” (Matthew 6:12)

• Matthew 6:14, “For if you forgive other people for their offenses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive other people, then your Father will not forgive your offenses.”

  1. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” (Matthew 6:13)

• I Corinthians 10:13, “No temptation has overtaken you except something common to mankind; and God is faithful, so He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.”

CONCLUSION:

Matthew 6:13b, “For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”
