Interpretation vs Application

  • Interpretation - discovering what someone is trying to convey - emotionally and/or factually

    • Exegesis - discerning what God means in His word.

“The truth is, it doesn’t matter what a verse means to me, to you, or to anyone else. All that matters is what the verse [divinely] means!” - John McArthur

  • Application - putting the interpretation into practice
    • We must ask the scripture: What does truth of God for you and I - right here, right now?

Application: 2 Ways
