Deuteronomy 8:3 (NIV) 3 He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.

I. God Humbled His People by Creating a Need and then Meeting It

A. God wanted to challenge His people’s self-sufficiency.

B. God wanted to humble Israel.

II. God Taught His People to Depend on Him

Deuteronomy 8:3b (NIV) 3 He humbled you…to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.

A. God wants us to trust His words.

B. What happens when it seems like God isn’t coming through?

C. God wants us to trust Him with our daily needs.

In Conclusion: Our trials are opportunities to demonstrate the goodness of our God.
