Luke 18:24-27 “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! 25Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” 26Those who heard this asked, “Who then can be saved?” 27Jesus replied, “What is impossible with men is possible with God.”

  1. breaks through:

Luke 19:5-9 When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly. 7 All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.” But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four time 9 “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham.”

Luke 19:10For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.”

2 Corinthians 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.

Questions to think about and talk about with others:

  1. What am I trusting to give me that only Jesus can give?

Matthew 6:24 — “No one can serve two masters… You cannot serve both God and money.”

When I feel anxious, threatened, or afraid about the future, where does my mind instinctively go for reassurance—my savings, my income, my control, something else or Christ?

  1. Where might Jesus be Himself into my life that I’d rather keep private?

Luke 19:5 …“Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.”

If Jesus were to say, “I must come to your house today,” what area of your life would feel most uncomfortable to open to Him?

  1. What would if Jesus truly became my greatest treasure?

Luke 19:8 But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”

If Jesus is the treasure I’ve been searching for, what grip might other things begin to lose on me—my money, my reputation, my control, my comfort?
