Spiritual Practices are intentional daily, weekly, seasonal rhythms or habits you work into your schedule & routine to allow Holy Spirit’s work of developing God’s nature in you. 1 Timothy 4:7 TLV - ‘train yourself in godliness’ Philippians 4:9 - ‘What you’ve learned, received, heard, seen in me – put it into practice’ Matthew 28:20 VOICE – Jesus: “Then disciple them. Form them in the practices and postures that I have taught you, and show them how to follow the commands I have laid down for you. And I will be with you, day after day, to the end of the age. This Week: Worship WORSHIP = ‘worth-ship’ ; to give true value to something, to honor & respect something; for the true worth it has; attitude of the heart Before worship was a COMMAND it was a CALLING Genesis 1:27-28 CSB - So God created man in his own image; He created him in the image of God; He created them male and female. God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it…” Genesis 2:15 CSB - The LORD God took the man and placed him in the garden of Eden to work it and watch over it. Jesus & Worship Matthew 4:8-11 CSB - Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 And he said to him, “I will give you all these things if you will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus told him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him.” Then the devil left him, and angels came and began to serve him. John 4:23 CSB – “But an hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and in truth. Yes, the Father wants such people to worship Him. True Worship involves 4 things… 1 – FOCUSED ‘present your bodies’ SPIRITUAL PRACTICE: Prepare for worship Come ready - being rested; thanks & praise; honest heart SPIRITUAL PRACTICE: Turn your work into an act of worship 2 – SACRIFICE ‘as a living sacrifice’ SPIRITUAL PRACTICE: Set aside time (corporate & personal) Lifting your hands as an act of surrender Singing when you don’t feel like it Be enthusiastic Bringing our praise & pain SPIRITUAL PRACTICE FOR WORK: Excellence No complaining Letting someone else have the better___ 3 – REVERENCE ‘holy & pleasing to God’ SPIRITUAL PRACTICE: Give Him the 1st 15 min of your day Being silent in His presence 4 - TRUST ***Romans 12:2 CSB *- Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
