Matthew 26. 36-42 There came a time for Jesus when there is no turning back from the cross. In the garden Jesus confirms the certainty of the cross. Was there tension between the Son and the Father over the cross? Salvation cannot occur without someone paying the price of sin. Why can’t God save us some other way? All other supposed ways to God are created by the very people who rejected God to begin with. The journey of the cross was the journey of a holy and loving God paying the price of our sin for our salvation.
