Sharing Our Journey Praise, Thanks, and Reflection Invite people to share from one or more of the questions below. It can be done as a whole group or in subgroups. It can also involve a worship song. (In Christ Alone, my hope is found) What are you thankful for? Where have you seen God at work? How has God used you? How have you gone living out God’s Word since our last gathering? Where have you struggled to follow the way of Jesus? Where and with whom have you witnessed to the love and good news of Jesus? Care and Prayer In prayer, capture the things you have shared above after also inviting people to share any personal needs for prayer or support. 2. Opening God’s Word Setting the Scene: In the intro, Paul reminds the Corinthians, who they are, as the church. He encourages them, that despite their shortcomings, they are indeed in Christ Jesus and recipients of God’s unchanging grace, peace, and faithfulness. This narrative and truth remain foundational for the church to prevail. Read: 1 Corinthians 1:1-9 Read the passage through, in different versions of the Bible. Paul uses the word called several times. To what is the church called and what does that mean? Paul links the church in Corinth to other believers. What do they have in common? How have you experienced unity with other believers? What gifts of grace have we been given in Christ Jesus and can you share examples of how you have experienced them? Paul assures us that we do not lack any spiritual gift. How does this right narrative help us prevail and also benefit others? Verse 8-9 reminds us that God will keep us strong to the end, that He is faithful. In what area of your life is this important? 3. Living out the Heart of God What has stood out to you from this passage and what is the Holy Spirit prompting you to apply?
