Sharing Our Journey Praise, Thanks, and Reflection Invite people to share from one or more of the questions below. What prompts you to praise God? What are you thankful for? What are you learning about the character and ways of God? How do you think God has worked through you? How have you gone living out God’s Word since our last gathering? Where have you struggled to follow the way of Jesus? Where and with whom have you witnessed to the love and good news of Jesus? Care and Prayer In prayer, capture the things you have shared above after also inviting people to share any personal needs for prayer or support. 2. Opening God’s Word Setting the Scene The last verses are a final appeal from Paul to the church at Corinth. One’s last words are important and more easily remembered. Hence, Paul would have chosen these carefully. Read: 2 Corinthians 13:11-14 Read these final verses from a variety of versions to enrich your understanding. When did you do something perfectly? How did it make you feel? What final commands does Paul give? Consider these in different versions of the Bible. How would following these commands help the Corinthian church? In what way would the church change if it obeyed them? Of the five commands Paul gives, which one do you most need to apply? Why? What change would this make in your life and relationships? In which area of your spiritual life will you aim for ‘perfection’ (to improve)? (13:9 and 11). In which area(s) will you be content with weakness? (See 12:9-10). What is the most valuable lesson you learned from the sermons and the study of Corinthians? What will you do this week to apply what you have learned? 3. Living out the Heart of God How can others encourage you and pray for you? How will what you have learned change your approach to life? Prayer for each other Pray for each other for any commitment you have made to live out what you have learned. Pray for your 5 (from your Relational Map – See ‘The Heart of God’ Study – Week 1). Pray for each other’s aspirations and needs. As you conclude this final study, give a ‘benediction’ to each other. (Verse 14).
