1. Look Back

Sharing Our Journey | 10–20 minutes

Praise, Thanks and Reflection

Invite people to share from one or more of the questions below.
This can be done as a whole group or in subgroups, and can also involve a worship song.

  • What are you thankful for?
  • Where have you seen God at work?
  • How has God used you?
  • How have you gone living out God’s Word since our last gathering?
  • Where have you struggled to follow the way of Jesus?
  • Has anything happened in the lives of those on your relational map who are far from God?
    (See the Relational Map Video)

Pray

In prayer, capture the things shared above, after inviting people to share any personal needs for prayer or support.

2. Look Up

Opening God’s Word | 20–30 minutes

Setting the Scene

The Book of Acts shows us that the Gospel is an uncontained movement—one that cannot be restricted by persecution, cultural boundaries, or suffering.

  • Acts 8: Believers are scattered through hardship yet remain Spirit-led, turning disruption into mission.
  • Acts 10: Peter steps into surprising new territory as God reveals that His salvation is for every nation.
  • Acts 16: Paul and Silas worship in suffering; God turns a prison into a place of salvation.

Together, these passages call the church to embrace a whole-life, Spirit-led, missional faith—uncontained by buildings, routines, comfort, or fear, and responsive to God’s leading wherever He sends us.

Read

Acts 8:1 & 4, Acts 10:28–36, Acts 16:25–34
Invite three people to read the individual passages, or take turns reading one verse at a time.

Discuss

  • What stands out to you from these three stories about how God leads and uses His people?
  • What questions do you have as you read—about persecution, inclusion of the Gentiles, or worship in suffering?
  • What do these passages together show us about God’s character—His mission, His heart for all people, and His presence in hardship?
  • What do they show us about discipleship—what it means to follow Jesus in everyday life, across boundaries, and through suffering?
  • Who in your world might be like Cornelius or the jailer—someone spiritually open, curious, hurting, or searching, whom God may already be preparing?

3. Look Forward

Living Out God’s Word | 10–20 minutes

  • Where is the Holy Spirit sending you this week—into a conversation, a task, a place, or a relationship?
  • What boundary or comfort zone might God be asking you to step beyond to join His mission?
  • How will you intentionally practice “Monday-morning faith”—living out the gospel in your everyday routines?

Pray

At Hope Valley Church, we believe that God is unfolding a new and very fruitful season for Jesus’s mission of making disciples who make disciples.
We believe we are going to see more people coming to faith and needing to be discipled.

Begin your prayer time in quiet reflection and ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you about how He wants you to be involved.

  • Pray for the Barossa church plant and for new mission fields God is opening.
  • Pray for endurance and joy for anyone in your group walking through pressure or suffering.
  • Pray for those on your relational map who may be spiritually curious or searching.
