1. Look Back

Sharing Our Journey | 10–20 minutes

Praise, Thanks and Reflection

Invite people to share from one or more of the questions below.
This can be done as a whole group or in subgroups and may include a worship song.

  • What are you thankful for?
  • Where have you seen God at work?
  • How has God used you?
  • How have you gone living out God’s Word since our last gathering?
  • Where have you struggled to follow the way of Jesus?
  • Has anything happened in the lives of those on your relational map who are far from God?
    (See the Relational Map Video)

Pray

In prayer, capture the things shared above, after inviting people to share any personal needs for prayer or support.

2. Look Up

Opening God’s Word | 20–30 minutes

Setting the Scene

Throughout Scripture, God’s people are invited to perceive the “new thing” He is bringing to life—and to respond with joyful, faith-filled generosity.

  • Isaiah 43:19 shows God making a way where there is none, calling His people to perceive His work springing forth.
  • Acts 11:19–26 tells the story of the Antioch church, birthed through scattered believers whose generosity, investment, and encouragement—especially from Barnabas—help shape a global mission movement.
  • Acts 20:35 reminds believers that “it is more blessed to give than to receive.”
  • 2 Corinthians 9:6–8 describes cheerful giving as the overflow of God’s grace.
  • Joshua 4:1–9 shows Israel marking moments of faith with memorial stones, remembering God's faithfulness as they step into the future.

Together, these passages call the church to live with open hands:
encouraging boldly, giving joyfully, and investing in what God is causing to spring forth.

Read

Isaiah 43:19, Acts 11:19–26, Acts 20:35, 2 Corinthians 9:6–8, Joshua 4:1–9
Have volunteers read a passage each, or select 2–3 to explore in depth.

Discuss

  • What stands out to you about how God initiates “new things” in Isaiah 43 and in the story of the early church?
  • What questions do these passages raise for you about generosity, encouragement, or participating in God’s mission?
  • What do these scriptures show us about God’s character—His abundance, creativity, and desire to bless others through His people?
  • What do we learn about discipleship from Barnabas, the Antioch church, and Paul’s teachings on giving?
  • Where do you sense God inviting our church to step forward in faith—like Israel crossing the Jordan—trusting Him to make a way?
  • What could it look like for you to be a Barnabas this week—encouraging, investing, or blessing what God is doing in others?

3. Look Forward

Living Out God’s Word | 10–20 minutes

  • How will you practice joyful, intentional generosity this week (time, money, attention, or encouragement)?
  • Where might God be prompting you to “risk in faith”—trusting Him with resources, decisions, or steps into new territory?
  • What memorial or reminder can you create—a habit, prayer, or action—to remember God’s past faithfulness and fuel future obedience?

Pray

Spend time together in prayer with the following focus:

Thanksgiving
For all that our Heavenly Father has revealed, that Jesus has called us into, and that the Holy Spirit is already doing through us.

Intercession

  • For the Barossa Church Plant—and that others will follow.
  • For the people God wants us to connect with online through Sunday Worship and digital discipleship.
  • For those God is calling by name to join us at Hope Valley.
  • For joyful, Spirit-led generosity in our church family.
  • For those on your Relational Map.
