Way of the Wise Week 2 This series explores the wisdom of Proverbs, helping us discover how trusting God shapes the way we think, decide, and live. Together, we are learning to rely less on our own understanding and more on God's guidance in every area of life. Looking Back Centering Activity: Take a few deep breaths together. Then slowly read aloud as a group: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” Repeat it twice, allowing the words to settle. Spend a minute in silence, inviting God to bring peace and focus. Reflection Questions Over the past fortnight, when have you found it easy — or difficult — to trust God? Can you share a moment where you leaned on your own understanding instead of seeking God's direction? Looking Up Read Proverbs 3:1-6 together as a group. Discussion Questions What instructions are given in this passage, and what promises are connected to them? What do you think it means practically to “write God's commands on the tablet of your heart”? How would you describe the difference between trusting God and leaning on your own understanding? Verse 6 says God will “make your paths straight.” What do you think that looks like in real life? Optional Resource: Consider watching a short BibleProject video on Proverbs or “wisdom literature” to better understand how these teachings apply to everyday decisions. Looking Ahead Application Questions What is one situation in your life right now where you need to trust God more fully? What is a practical way you can acknowledge God in your daily routines this week (e.g. prayer, scripture, pausing before decisions)? How can you remind yourself not to rely solely on your own understanding in moments of uncertainty? Prayer Lord God, Thank You that You are trustworthy in all things. Teach us to rely on You with all our hearts and not depend on our own limited understanding. Help us to acknowledge You in every part of our lives, both big and small. Guide our steps, make our paths straight, and shape us into people who walk closely with You each day. Amen.
