Way of the Wise Week 3 This series explores the wisdom of Proverbs, focusing on how our relationships shape our character and faith. Together, we are learning how God uses friendships and community to grow us in wisdom, love, and godliness. Looking Back Centering Activity: As a group, take a moment to quietly reflect on the people in your life. Then read aloud together: “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Sit in silence for one minute, asking God to bring to mind key relationships in your life. Reflection Questions Over the past fortnight, how have your relationships influenced your walk with God? Have there been moments where a friend encouraged or challenged you in your faith? What happened? Looking Up Read Proverbs 13:20; 17:17; 27:17 together as a group. Discussion Questions What do these verses teach us about the impact of the people we surround ourselves with? How is friendship described in these passages, especially in times of difficulty? What does it look like to “walk with the wise” in today's context? In what ways can friends “sharpen” one another? Is this always comfortable? Optional Resource: Consider watching a short BibleProject video on wisdom literature or biblical community to help explore how relationships shape spiritual growth. Looking Ahead Application Questions Who are the people in your life that are helping you grow in wisdom and faith? How can you intentionally invest in those relationships? Is there a relationship that may be leading you away from wise living? What steps might you need to take? How can you be someone who encourages, sharpens, and supports others in their faith this week? Prayer Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of relationships and community. Help us to walk with the wise and to be wise in how we choose our friendships. Teach us to love faithfully, to support one another in every season, and to sharpen each other with grace and truth. Shape us into people who reflect Your heart in our relationships. Amen.
