Romans 8:1-13 Three Essential Concepts (vs.1-4) – “the act of clearing someone of blame or of an accusation” Now condemnation (vs.1-2) Not modified or less condemnation Jesus Paid It All – “propitiation” (vs.3) For People (vs.1) Those who are “ ” Christ Jesus Redeemed, Reborn, Regenerated, Renewed (vs.4) (vs.5-11) – “the recognizing or noting of differences; condition of being different” Before & After Picture (vs.5-8) BEFORE – Lives to the flesh Dominated by ! Mind by the flesh to God Does not to God Cannot God AFTER – Lives according to the to the Spirits desires! Mind by the Spirit with God to God God **HOW IS THIS NEW LIFE POSSIBLE?** God gives me the (vs.9-10) “IF” I am “IN” Christ and Christ is “IN” me The Holy Spirit has Power (vs.11) Raised Jesus from the Raises me to new (vs.12-13) – “something by which a person is bound to do certain things; a binding promise, sense of duty” Not to the flesh – domination brings death! To the new – “mortification” brings life! **CONCLUSION:** Those who are truly “Born Again” are no longer dominated by the desires of the flesh. Instead, they increasingly learn to walk in the Spirit and defer to the Spirit’s leading. The distinction between the saved and unsaved is the fruit of the Spirit!
