A Believer’s Guide to Salting The Election Season

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority. 1 Timothy 2:1–4 (NLT)

Big Idea: Believers salt their politics best by replacing their old impulse for criticizing, complaining and condemning with a new habit of intercession.

for your government authorities.

Who do we pray for? We pray that God helps all people; even our governing .

1 Timothy 2:1–4 (NLT) I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority…

2 Reasons Why We Pray For Them

  1. We pray this way for our own .

2...so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.

  1. We pray this way to please God who desires to win , not elections.

3 This is good and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.

What would it look like if, before turning to social media & cable news, you turned first to prayer & meditation on Scripture?

  • You focus more of your zeal into winning hearts & souls than you do into winning arguments & elections.
  • You humbly avoid or repent for dropping “division bombs”.

HOW THEN SHOULD WE LIVE?

the best about the humans who serve as your governing authorities.

expecting your governing leaders to change how they behave, pray that God changes how they believe.

a daily routine for immersing your mind, will & emotions into talking & listening to God.
