Omniscient (2/8)

Experience A God Beyond Compare

By Pastor Dan Williams, October 15, 2023

Romans 11:33–34 (NLT) 33 Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways! 34 For who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to give him advice?

God's knowledge is infinitely beyond human .

  • Psalm 147:5 (NLT) How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension!
  • Def: : God’s knowledge of both himself and that which he’s created is infinite & perfect.
    • Hebrews 4:13 (NLT) Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.

God knows all…

  1. …things in the universe.
  2. …human .
  3. …things that are done.
  4. events.

WHAT NOW ?

(from International Standard Bible Encyclopedia)

  • You have life changing security.
    • Nothing can ever come to light in the believer’s life that would surprise God and cause Him to cast him out.
  • You have life changing sensitivity.
    • Every warning God gives comes from an omniscient Being, so we should be extremely sensitive to them.
  • You have life changing solace.
    • When faced with inexplicable circumstances in life, we invariably take refuge & find solace in the omniscience of God.
      • Matthew 10:29–30 (NLT) 29 What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. 30 And the very hairs on your head are all numbered.
  • You have life changing sobriety.
    • Sobriety ought to characterize all when they realize that they must stand before an all-knowing God

CONTINUING THE CONVERSATION

1. If God's knowledge is infinitely beyond human comprehension, why do you think some of us are so quick to question God?

2. Which of these aspects of God’s omniscience strikes you the most?

a. God knows all things in the physical universe.

b. God knows all human thoughts.

c. God knows all things that are not done.

d. God knows all future events.

3. God’s knowledge of both himself and that which he’s created is infinite & perfect (omniscience). How might it help you to believe & remember that God knows about “every sparrow” that dies and about the number of “hairs on your head”?
