We are MISSIONARIES (2/3)

A family of missionary servants, sent as disciples

By Pastor Dan Williams, March 24, 2024

John 1:14,21 (NLT)

Jesus lived a lifestyle exclusively focused on revealing the love & glory of his Father.

John 1:14 (NLT) So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

  • John 1:18 (NLT) 18 No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.
  • Colossians 1:19–20 (NLT): 19 For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, 20 and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.

In the same way,

We are sent by God to all things to himself.

John 20:19–21 (NLT) 19 That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said. 20 As he spoke, he showed them the wounds in his hands and his side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord! 21 Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”

  • 2 Corinthians 5:17–21 (NLT): 17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 18 And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. 19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. 20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” 21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

What now?

1. Look for ways to add more intention to the stuff you’re already doing.

2. Know your circles of influence so you can “show & tell” them your faith story.

a. God has uniquely positioned each of us NEAR people who are FAR from Him. (Family , Friends, Vocation , Neighborhood)
