Exploring Proverbs It’s human nature to cling to good things expecting them to fulfill the deepest desires of our hearts, to give us the sustenance, happiness, refreshment, strength, renewal and life we long for. Why does this matter? A. Because idols give us what we need, and ultimately the way of idols leads to death. For those who are followers of Jesus, idols inhibit our spiritual growth, they hold us back from seeking or receiving the good our Heavenly Father has for us. B. Good things become . We need more and more of those good things to try to satiate the hunger we have. We focus all of our attention on it and in the process damage the other good things in our lives. Proverbs 3:18 (NLT) Wisdom is a tree of life to those who embrace her; happy are those who hold her tightly. Parenting Wisdom: 1. We can’t create a better environment for our children than God did for His first children but we can aim to be intentional like He was. 2. Our children have the same heart condition we have; the same one Adam and Eve had. Colossians 2:1-4 (NLT) In him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 3. The best gift we can give our children is to give them Jesus. WHAT NOW? Pray. Repent, receive forgiveness, & obey. Read the Word. Wisdom for Parenting: Pray for your children. Feed them the Word from a young age. Share the treasures of wisdom you find in Jesus & always cite the source.
