Genesis 5:1-3 (ESV) “When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God. Male and female he created them, and he blessed them and named them Man when they were created. When Adam had lived 130 years, he fathered a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth.” Genesis 5:6 (ESV) “When Seth had lived 105 years, he fathered Enosh.” 1. Our identity as parents is God ordained. 2. Parenting is about the parent’s identity formation. 3. Parenting is about the child’s identity formation. Proverbs 13:24 (ESV) “Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him.” DILIGENT = Steadily applied; prosecuted with care and constant effort; careful; painstaking Diligence in habit formation.
