LIFE GROUP INTERSECT NOTES

(That’s the goal of the word of God: to cut across and overlap into our everyday lives. These questions will help us dig a little deeper and make sure that what we are learning is intersecting with our every day lives. They also serve as the framework for discussion and study in our life groups.)

QUICK REVIEW

Looking back at your notes from this week’s message, what caught your attention, challenged or confused you?

MY STORY

  1. Is my tendency more to obsess or to overlook the reality of having a spiritual adversary? How do you strike the right balance?
  1. What are some of the differences between how Hollywood portrays demonic realities and how they are described in scripture?
  1. Why do you think the people begged Jesus to depart from their region (Mark 5:17) after He rescued the man?

DIGGING DEEPER

Read the account of crossing on the boat in Mark 4:20ff. How does that episode foreshadow what happens on the other side? What similarities can you pick out between both scenes?

TAKING IT HOME

  1. What difference does it make to know that the darkest of spiritual forces… that are stronger than I am… are all subject to Jesus?
  1. How does the man Jesus rescued become a model for sharing the Gospel with others? What story do I have to share with others about how much Jesus has done for me?
  1. Using Psalm 139 as a guide (especially v 23-24) pray and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas in need of a spiritual rescue.
