Philippians 1:1-11

Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus,

To all God’s holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons:

2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 I thank my God every time I remember you. 4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

7 It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me. 8 God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.

9 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.

And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, beacuse he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. Romans 5:5 NLT

Pray for their v. 9-11

Be confident that in all people's lives. v. 6

I am confident that the Creator, who has begun such a great work among you, will not stop in mid-design but will keep perfecting you until the day Jesus the Anointed, our Liberating King, returns to redeem the world.

  1. 6 The Voice

There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears.

  1. 6 The Message

Questions for Discipleship Group/Personal Reflection:

Introduction: On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being completely full of joy; how would you rate your joy level right now? Why did you assign that rating?

Go to the source: Read Philippians 1:1-11 What do you sense God saying to you from this passage? Do these verses describe how you feel about the people in your life? Why or why not?

Live it Out: Would “grace and peace” (v. 2) or “guilt and pressure” better describe your experience with Jesus Christ right now? Why? How can your group help?
