Phil 4:4-9

4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your [b]gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

Peace the Antidote to anger

We are living in and people are experiencing more and more uncertainty everyday.

We are living with amounts of physical uncertainty through the pandemic, and we have no idea when this will end.

Many of us are also living with where we have lost our jobs and maybe even have to start from scratch in terms of our careers.

Today uncertainty has grown so much.

  1. What is peace?

Verse 7 says, “and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

In the Greek the word peace means verb eiro = to join or bind together that which has been separated.

How can I experience having the ultimate peace of ?

Having the peace of God requires a change in mindset, challenges us to have love, being one in the spirit and having one mind.

2 Corinthians 5:19 that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not [d]imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation 20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.

2.How can I possess the right attitude/spirit?

verse 4 Paul says, “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again, I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your [b]gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

Beloved the Bible is saying our behaviour needs to be presented from the disposition of .

In moments of , in moments of and in moments where the true test of life comes is when you remember to give honor and glory to God.

Titus 3:2 “to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.”

verse 6, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;”

  1. How can we stop worrying?

1 Thess 5:16-18 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Prayer is our about our needs before God, our in his presence, our absolute dependence upon him with an of constant thanksgiving and complete trust.
