Aligned Reality Surrounding objects have a way of skewing reality, with unwanted results due to errant calculations. I was helping my son with the wall mount for a television, taking some measurements to place it correctly on the wall. It was very fortunate that I brought along my 3’ level, because according to the way it looked from my perspective, the mount would have ended up at an unacceptable angle, rather than perfectly horizontal. For the completed project to look correct, the surrounding lines of the room had to be removed from consideration. To look right in the end, I couldn’t trust what it looked like with everything around it. So many of life’s perspectives are impacted by surroundings. All of the input coming to us from experiences, someone’s ideas, and the desires of our flesh affect our perspective of reality, with potentially unacceptable results. In order for there to be an alignment with reality that ensures a desired outcome, those collateral effects must be denied consideration in deference to a reliable reference. While the world provides an endless source of misperceptions that we can conform to, there is a potential alignment with reality we’ve been given in the mind of Christ. From His Word we have a standard that will completely transform all of life with its truth. With each time it is given precedence over the world’s input, there is renewal of the mind in alignment with reality. The continuation of dependence on the Word will then result in change that is apparent in all aspects of life. Notes God’s response to being questioned – behemoth and leviathan. Job 41:34 (AMPC) 34 He looks all mighty [beasts of prey] in the face [without terror]; he is monarch over all the sons of pride. [And now, Job, who are you who dares not arouse the unmastered crocodile, yet who dares resist Me, the beast's Creator, to My face? Everything under the heavens is Mine; therefore, who can have a claim against God?] Before a virus or a skewed perspective on life or identity there is bowing, deference and fear. And yet, before the One who is king over the flood, the creator of the most treacherous of beasts and the One who knows the chemical makeup of everything in existence, there is complete indifference. Our own perspective cannot be reality – until there is access to the sanctuary. Psalms 73:11 (NKJV) 11 And they say, “How does God know? And is there knowledge in the Most High?” Psalms 73:16-19 (NKJV) 16 When I thought how to understand this, It was too painful for me— 17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; Then I understood their end. 18 Surely You set them in slippery places; You cast them down to destruction. 19 Oh, how they are brought to desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors. Man’s thoughts and the ways they produce cannot touch those of God. Isaiah 55:7-9 (NKJV) 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. 8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. 9 "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. In receiving Christ, reality is changed to new creation in Him – His nature, likeness, mind. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. In Christ we’ve been given truth in the Word/His mind that, with each exposure, produces the outward expression of an inward reality. 1 Corinthians 2:16 (NKJV) 16 For “WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD THAT HE MAY INSTRUCT HIM?” But we have the mind of Christ. Reality – new creation | Necessity – mind aligned to reality Romans 12:2 (AMPC) 2 Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]. Conformation – Taking on a pattern of living other than one’s own. Transformation – changed state of existence that requires mind renewal. The mind is not what is transformed. What is transformed is life itself – existence. The Word – two parts – conception/thought and utterance/spoken Christ, in becoming flesh became the spoken Word of God’s conception. John 1:1-5 (NKJV) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 1:14 (NKJV) 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. Every thought aligned with the will of God brings renewal to the mind’s perception of true reality. It is by the Word that thoughts are affected to bring outward expressions of inward reality. Drawn by the Word of His love, trust for all of life is given to His Word for existence aligned with reality. Psalms 36:7-9 (NKJV) 7 How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. 8 They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures. 9 For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light. Overview: The ability to perceive reality is skewed by illusions of the world. True reality can only be found in the One who created all that is way beyond our understanding. His thoughts and ways are far above those of man. In Christ reality changed as inwardly we were given His mind/thoughts by the Word. For our outward existence to align with reality, the mind requires renewal. With every embraced exposure to the Word, there is progressive alignment with its corresponding reality in life. (peace, freedom, purpose, provision, etc.) Prayer: I praise You, O Lord, for Your higher ways that have produced creation beyond my comprehension. I humbly submit my thoughts completely to Yours, trusting in the Word You have given me as the renewing light for my mind. Transform all that I am to prove Your completed will in all areas of my life. Declarations: Before the presence of the Great I Am, the Creator of everything, I am incredibly humbled and in awe, ready to defer to His will. When I received Christ, the reality of who I am completely changed into a new creation. Now the truth of the Word brings my mind into alignment with that reality. With every exposure to the Word, the mind is empowered to perceive the truth and produce an outward transformation in line with that reality. My life is filled with the amazing abundance Jesus came to give, and this reality is transforming everything about my existence for the glory of God.
