He Is

To the question of who someone is, there can be a clear description provided based on first-hand encounters with them. It’s possible for an initial impression to accurately depict someone, but for this to be proven, some time will be spent experiencing who they really are. The action taken in response to that first information is what will solidify a conviction of their character, nature, or identity. Where it is believed to be good things like integrity, kindness, and mercy, choices will reflect this and either be rewarded with bonding confirmation or separating disappointment. A statement can be made based on observing their interactions with others, but it is that personal experience of how they have carried this out that makes it really definitive.

It’s not enough to just have an impression of who God is. It’s in choices made based on information from that impression that life becomes a testimony of its reality. Understanding of His love can be heard or observed but it’s in daily pursuit of it personally that it becomes a reward in life. His faithfulness can provide wonderful lyrics for a song, but diligent seeking this reality in steady trust is when this can be confidently spoken in faith. That He can do anything is a common assertion, but it’s when His Word regarding a particular mountain is cared for like a seed, constantly watering and nurturing it, that faith fills words commanding its removal. It’s not the impression that brings pleasure to His heart, but it’s in the intentional proving of that reality, when who He is becomes our reward in life, that He is pleased.

Notes

Not just who He is, but what He does.

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

The seed that moves mountain is not just sown, but cared for.

Matthew 17:20 (NKJV) 20 So Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

How to grow – consider and apply.

Diligent application of the Word and reception of its growing effect.

Hebrews 4:11-13 (NKJV) 11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

Readily available for continual consumption, care, and results.

Romans 10:8 (NLT) 8 In fact, it says, “The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart.” And that message is the very message about faith that we preach:

Who is He?

Merciful

Romans 4:7-8 (NLT) 7 “Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sins are put out of sight. 8 Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of sin.”

Faithful

James 1:17 (NLT) 17 Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.

Supply

Philippians 4:19 (NLT) 19 And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

Healer

Psalms 103:2-5 (NKJV) 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, 4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, 5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
