So many challenges arise where light is absent. There can be no direction from the surroundings or from what is written so movements are inhibited and endangered. Understanding the truth and making wise decisions are greatly compromised where darkness hides the truth. Evil actions are enabled where they are thought to be unseen. Threats of danger advance without warning under the cloak of darkness. The simple shining of a light has great power to dispel the perils of darkness and empower what is right and true.
While there is surely a need for natural light, there is also devastation in spiritual darkness that can only be averted by the shining of God’s glory. Without this penetration into the hidden places there will be continued dominance by what remains unseen and misunderstood. However, all evil lurking in the shadows is rendered powerless by the simple entrance into His light where all is seen in truth with enabled righteousness. It is for this purpose that Jesus came to earth. Even upon His arrival in the stable, there was the shining of glory’s light that would bring salvation to all who would come to it. Before His arrival, there was indeed hopelessness in the darkness that covered the earth, but because He has come, there is the promise of complete deliverance and safety. There is such a great opportunity in this celebration of His coming to step into the Light of His presence and know its power over every work of darkness.
Isaiah 60:19-20 (NKJV)
19 "The sun shall no longer be your light by day, Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; But the LORD will be to you an everlasting light, And your God your glory.
20 Your sun shall no longer go down, Nor shall your moon withdraw itself; For the LORD will be your everlasting light, And the days of your mourning shall be ended.
John 12:36 (NKJV)
36 While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light." These things Jesus spoke, and departed, and was hidden from them.
John 12:46-48 (NKJV)
46 I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.
47 And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.
48 He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.
John 3:19-21 (NKJV)
19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God."
