Stir

Jesus’ promise to be received as spoken.

Mark 16:17-18 (NLT) 17 These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages. 18 They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.”

It will be in humble submission to God’s order that His grace will be received/applied

James 4:6 (NLT) 6 And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

Laying on of hands places the embers, but fanning to flames is up to us.

2 Timothy 1:6-7 (NLT) 6 This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

ἀναζωπυρέω anazōpureō Thayer Definition:

  1. to kindle up, inflame one’s mind, strength, zeal

Preparation of fasting and prayer for laying on of hands with purpose.

Acts 13:3 (NLT) 3 So after more fasting and prayer, the men laid their hands on them and sent them on their way.

With laying on of hands – gift of the Spirit imparted.

Acts 19:6 (NLT) 6 Then when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in other tongues and prophesied.

There was an obvious transmission of gifting with the laying on of hands.

Acts 8:17-21 (NLT) 17 Then Peter and John laid their hands upon these believers, and they received the Holy Spirit. 18 When Simon saw that the Spirit was given when the apostles laid their hands on people, he offered them money to buy this power. 19 “Let me have this power, too,” he exclaimed, “so that when I lay my hands on people, they will receive the Holy Spirit!” 20 But Peter replied, “May your money be destroyed with you for thinking God’s gift can be bought! 21 You can have no part in this, for your heart is not right with God.

With heart preparation is igniting of fire with kingdom purpose.

James 5:16 (AMPC) 16 Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].

With the laying on of hands is the placement of gifting that will either be fanned or neglected.

1 Timothy 4:14 (NLT) 14 Do not neglect the spiritual gift you received through the prophecy spoken over you when the elders of the church laid their hands on you.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-24 (NLT) 16 Always be joyful. 17 Never stop praying. 18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 19 Do not stifle the Holy Spirit. 20 Do not scoff at prophecies, 21 but test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. 22 Stay away from every kind of evil. 23 Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. 24 God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful.
