Preparing the Way

For the forming of innumerable devices, buildings, machinery, and technology that enhance our present-day lifestyle, there was first a concept that was put into a plan laid out with specific words. Raw materials were used as a resource, but there was nothing until words made a way for their forming. With data and the writing of code for programming, there is even a language that must be learned and very accurately utilized for there to be an effective resulting function. One misplaced digit or letter can corrupt and disable the running process. As great as words are for regular communication and conversation, they are essential for taking what once did not exist to a working and useful creation.

Far beyond the power of creative words in the material world is their effect on the world of the spirit. It wasn’t just God’s thoughts, but His words that formed all creation out of absolutely nothing. It’s by words that the way is made for His plans, purposes, and pursuits to be experienced. So much of Jesus’ coming, the life He lived, and His fulfilled mission in death and resurrection was in response to words that were spoken long before His birth in the manger. The way for the launching of His ministry was prepared for by John the Baptist’s words.

As words are required in faith’s powerful demonstrations, they are especially necessary in the fulfillment of our mission as His servants. He is the Savior, Healer, Provider, Deliverer, and the One doing the work, but He moves in response to faith and not just need. For those events that He will display His miraculous power, there is a way that must be made in the Spirit by the words of His saints. As we live by faith and not by sight, it’s by our words that we remain alive in Him.

Notes

The way is made from a voice’s calling

Matthew 3:3 (NLT) 3 The prophet Isaiah was speaking about John when he said, “He is a voice shouting in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the LORD’s coming! Clear the road for him!’” (Isaiah 40:3)

Jesus is the way.

John 14:6 (NLT) 6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

Jesus’ way – words.

John 6:63 (NLT) 63 The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

Our way is a faith one.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

It was to Daniel’s words that the angel came.

Daniel 10:12 (NKJV) 12 Then he said to me, "Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words.

The woman’s words made the way for Jesus healing her.

Mark 5:25-29 (NKJV) 25 Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, 26 and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. 28 For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.” 29 Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction.

Faith prayers speak to, as if already done.

Mark 11:23-24 (NLT) 23 I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. 24 I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.

Words that will make the way must be exclusive.

John 8:26 (TLB) 26 I could condemn you for much and teach you much, but I won’t, for I say only what I am told to by the one who sent me; and he is Truth.”

Words by the Spirit make way for what is to come in the revelation of God’s glory.

John 16:13-15 (TLB) 13 When the Holy Spirit, who is truth, comes, he shall guide you into all truth, for he will not be presenting his own ideas, but will be passing on to you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. 14 He shall praise me and bring me great honor by showing you my glory. 15 All the Father’s glory is mine; this is what I mean when I say that he will show you my glory.

From barrenness to nations by God’s way.

Romans 4:17 (TLB) 17 That is what the Scriptures mean when they say that God made Abraham the father of many nations. God will accept all people in every nation who trust God as Abraham did. And this promise is from God himself, who makes the dead live again and speaks of future events with as much certainty as though they were already past.

Anyone may release living words from a transformed heart.

John 7:38 (NLT) 38 Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’”
