Faith – Activating the Power

Even though there’s an abundance of electrical power available to run countless devices and machines, it remains dormant until someone connects to it. For example, a power drill in the garage has everything needed to bore holes through wood or metal, but it won’t accomplish a thing until someone plugs it in and flips the switch. Some tasks can only be completed with that kind of powered tool, and in those moments, knowing how to access the power—how to plug in and turn it on—becomes essential. As long as there’s no need or no understanding of how to engage the power, it stays untapped. But when someone begins to depend on what that tool can uniquely do, they build a lifestyle around plugging into its source and activating it whenever the task demands it.

In the same way, God’s power is always present—more than enough to heal, deliver, restore, and provide—but it often remains inactive in our lives until we respond in faith. There are situations we face—brokenness, spiritual battles, impossible needs—that only God can resolve. In those moments, it’s not enough to simply acknowledge the need; we must know His promises and choose to activate them. Just as flipping a switch releases power into a tool, speaking God’s Word releases His power into our situation. When we focus on the problem, we remain stuck in limitation—but when we align our words with His truth, we give His power something to work with. Faith-filled words grounded in His promises are how we plug into the power of heaven and see His will unfold on earth. As we learn to live this way, we develop a lifestyle of connection—turning first to the Source and activating His power by declaring what He has said, not what we fear.

Notes

Requirements for Faith’s activation:

  • A need beyond natural ability/an impossibility
  • Confidence in God’s mercy and grace
  • A Promise of Power
  • Belief from Branding – in the Name
  • Release of power with words/confession of faith
  • Rest in Peace – Obedience to the Promise(Heart is kept where anxiety dies)
  • Rejoicing in Thanksgiving

It's when our ability and strength come up short that faith in God’s power can be activated.

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT) 9 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

Find mercy, grace, and great confidence in His presence.

1 John 3:21-22 (NLT) 21 Dear friends, if we don’t feel guilty, we can come to God with bold confidence. 22 And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey him and do the things that please him.

At His feet, find a promise He’s spoken about your need.

2 Corinthians 1:20-22 (NLT) 20 For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory. 21 It is God who enables us, along with you, to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us, 22 and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us.

Run into His Name by considering what He’s done.

Proverbs 18:10 (NLT) 10 The name of the LORD is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe.

Power through belief is released through the mouth.

Mark 11:23-24 (NLT) 23 I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. 24 I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.

Put fear and anxiety to death by entering into rest upon God’s promises.

Hebrews 4:1-3,9-11 (NLT) 1 God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it. 2 For this good news—that God has prepared this rest—has been announced to us just as it was to them. But it did them no good because they didn’t share the faith of those who listened to God. 3 For only we who believe can enter his rest. As for the others, God said, “In my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest,’” even though this rest has been ready since he made the world.

9 So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. 10 For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. 11 So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.

Faith expresses joyful thanks for the inheritance God’s power has provided.

Colossians 1:11-12 (NLT) 11 We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, 12 always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light.

🔍Overview: Faith – Activating the Power

God’s power is always present, abundant, and available—but it must be activated by faith. Just like electricity must be accessed by plugging in and flipping a switch, God’s power must be connected to and engaged through our faith. Faith comes alive when we face situations beyond our ability, place our full confidence in God's grace, and speak His promises instead of our problems. True faith involves recognizing the need, running to the Name of the Lord, declaring His promises, entering into His rest, and giving thanks in advance for what He has promised.

Faith activates power when:

  • We reach the end of our own strength
  • We trust in God’s mercy and grace
  • We stand on His promises
  • We speak in alignment with His Word
  • We rest in peace without anxiety
  • We rejoice with thankful hearts

🙏 Prayer: Activation of Faith

Father, I thank You that Your power is present and ready to work in my life. I acknowledge that many of the things I face are beyond my ability—but not beyond Yours. Today I choose to connect to Your power through faith. I run to the strong tower of Your Name and I rest in the promise of Your Word. Teach me to speak with confidence, to declare truth instead of fear, and to live each day dependent on Your strength and not my own. Let my heart be at rest, my words be filled with faith, and my life be a reflection of Your power at work. I believe, I receive, and I give You all the glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
